wondering if anyone can let me know the shortest rear shock i can use on my 97 fwdwg...i ride 2up on occasion but usually alone...i weigh 190 and my ol lady weighs 130..really want to drop the *** on it because it feels like im riding so high up...thx
The lower you drop it the less suspension travel you will get. You may be happy with it on your own but I bet your OL won't be when she gets on!
IMHO while riding solo it is very easy to enjoy the ride even with poor quality shocks (and Harley don't fit great ones!), but as soon as we put on a passenger, especially if she is the love of our life, the rules change. She is sitting on top of the rear wheel, you are well in front of it. She gets every bump and thump, but you only get a part of them.
So you have a challenging choice to make! If you want her to ride with you, make sure she is comfortable and enjoys the ride. If that means keeping longer shocks so be it! If you want to go low and have a great ride together, phone HDF sponsor Howard at Motorcycle Metal and ask his advice.
