Only 2500? He owes you a new tire, and I don't mean Pro-rated either.
His non-concerning attitude toward your safety and best interest SUCKS!
After reading this post sounds to me like the guy who sold you the tire is triing to offload his old stock of tires. I believe all tires have a code on the sidewall to tell you when they were manufactured. Heres metzlers brochure http://www.us.metzelermoto.com/media...NJD3FYKJOPCFFA
If I were you I'd look up the codes for dunlops too. Hell if he'd put a crappy tire on once he'll probably do it again. If their old stock it wouldn't matter whether there mezlter or dunlop. I'd be lookin for someplace else to get tires.
have metz 880s front and rear on my deuce... close insoection after this post (made me look) - all good - the metzlers seem to handle and ride well for me, I'm thinking like edsaws said they sold you date coded junk. but I will be extra cautious when replacement time comes around. Good luck.
Scary stuff going on in some of these places. I have always used the HD Dunlop but have wondered about the Metz. Unbelievable. I know a couple of guys that run them on their Beemers. They love 'em. I think it was probably old stock that is why you got them the same price as the DLOP. I think they are usually a little higher. I would definately find a new shop and make sure they know why.[>:]
I've run 3 sets of Metzelers over the years , never has any problems always gotten about 15K out of them. Sounds to me that the issue was more one of old stock than inherent quality.
I just purchased a 260/40 Metz 880 Marathon XXL. When it arrived I looked at the sidewall and it looks like crap. Looks like swirls of different colors of rubber with high and low spots everywhere.
Called Metz and got blown off with stupid excuses that the tire is safe and it is just from their process of manufacturer that causes this. I think they need a new process!
Sending it back for another. If it comes the same way I will go with another brand.
Anyone with Metzler 880's or considering buying them. BEWARE of the ones made in BRAZIL. It is marked on the sidewall and they are junk. Mine damn near fell apart on a trip this past summer. It was cupping so bad the treads were pulling off the tire. Only had a couple thousand miles on it and all I got was BS about having incorrect air pressure in the tire. Look at the sidewall and beware if it says "MADE IN BRAZIL"
