That's not really recommended.
But if you do,
Use a good solvent that won't hurt the rubber dust covers.
You can pack by hand.
but a needle zerk adapteron grease gun with right type of grease works well.
the bearings are supposedly greased for life at factory, but we know how that goes.

Yes I was.I didnt know about the old style,but would agree about not mixing.
Some people pull off the dust shields on the new ones and repack them.

I read an article in a tech magazine that said one ofthe major causes of bearing failure is using2 disimilar types of grease in the same bearing. Unless the greasethat is already in your bearings is known, its best to thoroughly clean outall the existing greasethen repack using the correct wheel bearing grease as recommended by the manufacturer. This really becomes an issue when you have trailer wheels and bearing buddies, those neat little zureks built into the hub where you dont have to remove the wheels and bearings to repack them.............BG
