Default Front fork issues

Hello everyone I have no experience taking apart a fork but this is my problem... I'm not leaking fluid but my front end is very soft. I don't think the springs are bad as it returns to normal after this issue. When I hit the front brakes the front end pretty much bottoms out. Any help or ideas would be great. It is a 2004 1200 custom sporty.

When was the last time the fork oil was changed? Another possible solution would be changing to a heavier oil. Factory calls for type "E" oil for my bike. I use Screamin Eagle 'heavy' oil, which is supposed to be 15 weight.

You have a lot of options. As the 2nd poster said, you can change the fork oil to something heavier. Keep in mind that will change how the forks absorb bumps as well. Or, you can change the stock progressive wound fork springs for straight rate springs from Racetech or Traxxion. While you're in there you could add some Ricor Intiminators. Of course none of that is cheap but it will make one heck of an improvement in the front suspension. Which, on a stock Harley is rudimentary at best.

Ricor Intiminators work wonders. Minimizes front brake dive and bottoming out. Smoother ride and improved handling.
