Default Frame damage, weldable/fixable or do I cut my losses?

I was taking apart my broken exhaust on my 93 fxrs-con to install a new one the other day and I noticed this gash in the frame that I hadn't seen before. It's partially over a weld on the back side of the lower tube coming from the triangle part of the frame. Any of you guys seen/had damage like this before and if so, how did you fix it, is it a matter of welding a bead in the crack?

TBH I wouldn't even loose a wink of sleep over that one. It looks like a shade tree got a little too grindy with a cut off wheel. That area is braced up pretty good already.

If you really want to get it fixed up, any competent welder could get you fixed up with minimal headache. It looks worse than it is.

Looks like the bike went down or the PO hit a curb or something.. You can paint it to make it disappear or put a band aide on it.. Or just forget about it and enjoy the ride..

It hit something.
A really good welder can fix it and never know it was there. On another note bubba can really screw up your frame.

Any chance there was a bracket or something that might have rubbed that spot??

I don't think I would concern myself with it much.
I have 2 boys that can weld I might get one of them to run a bead over it and repaint that area

Personally, I'd weld a patch over it, but, then, I'm an aircraft mechanic...

I'd weld a patch over it, not just weld the cut. I would not leave it as is.

Send that frame to me for disposal. I won't charge much. That's the kind of guy I am.

A good welder could carefully tig weld that area and blend it in perfectly. Paint touch up and you won't even know it's there.

Not that I know of, the closest thing I can think of was the thunderheader that was on before. It was using the standard rear mount that connects to the passenger footpeg so I dont think it would ever touch that area

With a rubber mounted motor I doubt the pipe was connected to the frame, usually to the transmission... Otherwise it would've broke the pipe..
