Cumberland gap is one Kentucky sight I haven't had the pleasure of seeing. Been Far East as Harlan and Black Mountain. Used to ride ATVs out in Harlan. Got kids at home so not sure I could make the gap and back in a days ride.

Cumberland Gap the community is actually a little town just over the line in TN after you go through the tunnel on 25E. Not much there to be honest. The ride up to Pinnacle Rock is a lot of switchbacks, but you can really see the "Gap" from there. It's about a 300 mile round trip ride for me with a little side stop or two thrown in. If you were in Harlan you were pretty close.
This is the actual "Gap" as seen from Pinnacle.
This view show the mountains leading down to it and the Cumberland River.
I get a full tank of gas, crank up the tunes, and just take off riding sometimes not knowing where I'm going to wind up. That day it was to there.
I'm new to the forum and it will not let me see pics for some reason, but I'm not far from mt Vernon/Berea area. I'm in harrodsburg, always looking for people to ride with.

Might check your computer settings. From this thread, looks like there are a few of us pretty close. PM us and maybe we can plan something. I know some people who would be up for a ride too.

Been a long time since I was in Harrodsburg.

I sold all my cattle when they got stupid high and so I have no set schedule right now. You guys free during the week? That's the best time to go. Have you been to the Red River Gorge, Natural Bridge area? Nice little day ride with a few stops.
I don't know how much of a ride you guys are up to.
Perhaps we should take this to a different area of the forum. Maybe here?
