Ok makes sense thanks again everyone. I'm going to start with the service and get the parts manual when I change out the bars this winter. Then I'll go into electrical
I've got several quality tools I saved from my mechanic days. I like Lowe's house brand; Kobalt. And for average homeowner projects, Harbor Freight or Northern Tools is a good alternative; and it doesn't hurt so much when you have to replace. Also, Ace Hardware carries Craftsman tools. There's a place here called "ReTool"; sells used stuff. Just some ideas...
Harbor freight has descent torx and allen tools. And if you break them, HF will replace them.
Also, what shocks did you put on your bike? Lowered or lifted?
Little off topic for everyone...
Whats the history behind the dislike for craftsman?
My toolbox is flooded with craftsman. All has worked well for me for 20yrs.
Engine rebuilds, engine swaps, race bike builds/ rebuilds and everything in between.
Ive never had a problem.
Just curious.
I put 12 inch works shocks on so same as stock. The jack I have in my cart right now is a craftsman at 5.5 inches so may not get that one or I'll go measure below the bike.
I can't speak for the others but I have no problem with craftsman tools, in fact that set that was previously recommended for $126 is what I currently have in my cart
I also have just about all craftsman, old and some new. Never had a problem with them. If I have to beat on a socket I use the impact ones, never use good screwdrivers as prybars, etc. I have their torque wrenches a they are also fine.
Wera tools are the best. They are expensive but if anyone else is looking here for tool advise. Hard to find except online but they are amazing tools. You will buy one time and that's it. I use metric Allen keys for work constantly I used to buy craftsman or bondus and would get about 6 months out of them. I'm on 3+ years with my Wera's and there is not even a slight sign or rounding.
