I'm having a hard time envisioning a 13 year old riding a Harley from state to state though. 16 or 17 a bit more believable.
That's the point... 13 year olds do not NORMALLY ride a Harley, but this is far from normal. I'm 6'4" and at 13, I was 5'7" ish, so it's not impossible.

Without giving up too much of the story, he's not going state to state at 13. He doesn't make it far at all.

As part of the novel marketing, H-D is involved. They would prefer (as in pick one preferred) a new model.

Thanks but could you do it on FB as well? Even as the admin, it would only let me cast the one vote.

Street Glide seems to be all the rage right now, and fit a large build guy better.
While the Wide Glide & Breakout are cool bikes, a tall muscular guy can make them look small.

And don't sweat the 13 yr's old size. I was 6'3" at 13.

From a practical standpoint I'd say it's got to be a bagger like a street glide. It'd be hard to get around an apocalyptic world with a bike you couldn't carry much on.

People need to not focus on the character. The father purchased the bike in the story. Not the kid. nor does it seem the characters were aware of what would occur. The father being a "working man" taking care of a wife and son.

Purchasing a Harley was probably his dream come true. I imagine he would skip on a tourer knowing it was too costly and he would do most of his riding locally. Thus, it would make more sense he would end up on a Wide Glide. The other option, albeit, costly is that he gets the Breakout. It's a couple grand more, but they seem to be rather popular and have a similar aggressiveness to the Wide Glide. The Street Glide, meh.

I opted and voted for the Breakout. Would a small 13-year-old have a hard time riding it (it isn't noted the character is 6' until he returns around the age of 30), oh yeah. But he doesn't get far before being stopped.

My biggest concern is who named their kid Orpheus in 2008? Maybe it's his middle name? Like Jayden Orpheus Knight or Caden Orpheus Knight, which were both very popular names that year.
