The oil spots are on the left side and I see grit build up from the front of the engine, on the top of the kick stand and getting thrown on the exhaust heat shield just behind the engine.

I'll try the clean and powder trick...hopefully that will work. Otherwise I'll take some good pictures to better show it.

Thanks.
Its not from a recent oil change is it?

It might be an oil leak at the stator plug wire opening in the left side front of the cases. If so there are a few fixes described elsewhere on the forum.

I was about to suggest the same thing as above -- Bingee beat me to it!

Or the rubber seal from the previous filter was left behind by mistake, which guaranties leakage. Happened to me ONCE, on a car....

I had 3 leaks at the same time on my '11 Ultra. Stator plug, transmission cover where the exhaust bracket bolts on, and the oil pan!

Is this the wire your talking about? I've considered this as a possible source based upon how I see the trail of oil that this could be the cause. What causes this to leak?

That is the stator plug and it is definitely leaking. POS design is what makes it leak. You can try to fix it with a black RTV silicone, but the dealer will tell you that the stator needs replaced.

Thanks. Is this a warranty item?

BTW...this isn't actually mine, I just found the pic to show the plug. Mine isn't this bad.
