Thanks Dawg,,,, was hoping because its a screamin eagle motor it might have had the good bits inside, so I,m now thinking there just stroked and the screamin eagle heads are added , this is my 14th Harley I,ve had a mix of knew and second handies, although I,ve had twin cams before I,ve never heard all this stuff about cam chain tensioners ,I,ve even had other twin cam motors stroked with the screamin eagle (jims ) parts and heads and done laps of Australia (about 14000 of your miles) without even knowing about this problem, I,ve done this trip a few times and the kilometers add up but never had the tensioner checked or replaced, guess you learn something every day, I better get them checked or replaced,,thanks guys

Before I installed my gear drive cams, ('00 S/E Road Glide,) I checked my tensioners about every 10,000 miles or so. Mine actually made it to 81,000 miles before the inner one finally cracked. Your results may vary.

Welcome!

Thanks Stiggy,, well good to hear , do you think that was unusually high mileage for them to last that long , what do you think the average would be ,
I haven't had this bike that long ,its got 45000 kilometers (28000 miles) on it so I,m hoping no damage has been done. cheers mate for the reply

Mine was exceptionally long IMO. That's why you should start inspecting them at 30,000 miles and every 10,000 thereafter.
