Things have been really rough for my mother the past few months and the sperm donor father of mine is now behind bars for a while, hope they lock the #$%*^$ up for life. Anyhow things have fallen to my brother and I to pic up the pieces and try to salvage what we can and make life a bit easier on our mom. So I have decided to thin the herd a little and sell 2 bikes to try to help her out financially for a while. I know the season is over here for riding and I will not get what I want, but was hoping if you guys can tell me if I am at least not nuts asking what I am?
2001 Dyna Wide Glide 9k mileage, 95" big bore kit...bike is about 90%...$6500
2001 Electra Glide 23k mileage...all stock and about 95%...$7500
Give it a shot. Based on what I've seen you are likely going to get offered about $1,000 to $1,500 less than what you are asking. If you hold for your price you'll likely be waiting till spring unless the right buyer shows up. Good luck with the sale, family first. Too bad the sperm donor doesn't realize that yet.
Sad to hear about your mom, give her a big hug from all of us on the forum.
Asset liquidation for hardship reasons is tough on the seller. Buyers will take advantage of you and your situation to steal the bikes from you. Winter and holiday season is also a bad time to sell motorcycles.
If you can, find another way to help your mother financially.
Thanks for the input guys. I figured this was a bad time to sell and figured some peeps would try to take advantage of the situation. I have other means to help her out which I am looking into now.
Frustrating part is before the econmy took a hit a few years ago they were pretty financially secure...but the market really tooks its toll and they lost so much. She is almost 70 and its just hard to see her so depressed and beaten down by life. We will get through it one way or another.
Throw them out there on Craigslist and see what happens. I sold a '96 Springer Softail for 7500 and a '12 Street Glide for 15,000 for my neighbor the other day. Listed them one day and they were gone the next day by a single buyer, a dealer.
Sorry to hear about your situation.
