Default Panoptx Eyewear

I want to get some "sunglasses" that have lenses that go from moderately dark during the day to almost clear at night.Like having the foam seal to keep wind and dust out especially because I wear contacts. The Panoptx motorcycle glasses at the dealer seem to be really nice (definitely like 'em better than HD's high end stuff) The Panoptx are somewhat pricey at around $145 to $200 (non-perscription)

Good vision means a lot to me,especially when moving along fast on those twisty country roads where something unexpectedmight come out of the shadows.I've tried some inexpensiveeyeware that had the foam liner and were ok,butI want the convenience of lenses that change with lighting conditions.

Anyone using Panoptx ? Opinions ? Anyone using anythingcomparablethat works well ?

Wife and I both got the Panoptix last year at Laconia. We both have prescription lenses. I got the "transition" lenses (they change from nearly clear for night use to almost black in bright sun. We both love em! They are very comfortable, work very well, and do a great job keeping the wind, bugs, debris out of your eyes! I find I rarely use the foam insert, they seem to be fine without, but they do come with it if you want to use it. I think we payed about $200 for them with prescription lenses, so it seems like you should be able to find them cheaper with non-scrip lens! It was a rally special, so maybe they are more pricey........highly recommended though, well worth the money for us!

I like my Panoptz a lot. The day/night lenses don't get dark enough for me on bright bright days. They are very nice late in the day when you're riding at t hat point where it isn't dark yet but too light out for clear lenses (saves a stop to change glasses). They are very low glare at night. If you go to any rallies look for Panoptx closeouts - I got 2 pairs of day/night and 1 dark lense in Daytona(Destination Daytona vendor lot) for 90 some dollars total. They were in Sturgis also I think at the Rapid City Harley Dealer parking lot

Love mine for the transition from evening riding into the night. Well worth the cost.

Take a look at Wiley-X. probably half the price and just as good. They have both interchangable Lens versions and light changing versions.

I had Panoptix with the changing lenses and within 3 months the foam started tearing away.Sent them back to get repaired and within 3 months it happened again. You couldn't give me a pair now.

I like mine because I can leave the visor open on my helmut and still not dry out my eyes from the wind.......

I got the transition Pans at HD in Titusville for a 100 bux, I love em..wear em all the time and no probs at all..very comfy too and I'm a sunglass nut. I have at least 30 pairs, mostly Pradas so I am pretty picky.

Thanks Mike -

The Wiley-X's have some great looking styles-I like the looks of 'em.From what I'm seeing they're about 20% less in cost than the Pantoptx.

The downside is their selection of frames with light changing lenes is limited, and it's harder to find places where you can check 'em out in person, but if I can find a place around here that has them, they're worth a look.
