Default 2004 883?

OK guys and gals, I'm thinking about getting this bike. He wants $5000.00 I offered $3000.00. What issues do these have that I should be concerned about and is my price on?

His number sounds extremely high for an 883. Check out NADA for a value http://www.nadaguides.com/Motorcycle...C-883cc/Values

or Kelly Blue Book http://www.kbb.com/motorcycles/harle...18419843167040

and remind the seller that it is indeed winter in Sturgis MI......and things won't be warming up there for quite some time......so buyers of 883's will be few and far between

The guy knows the book value, he is asking 5K so he can be talked down. The book value is kind of BS especially if the bike has some add ons. I have a 2005 883 that I wouldn't think of taking less than 5 K. I basically have the Sporty and the Superglide, no I don't need two bikes, but I am not giving the 883 away for book value. It will be worth $3K when it is 20 years old then maybe I will take $3K.

Unless you have something against Electronic Fuel Injection and rubber motor mounts, I would suggest a 2009 or newer Sportster. I have a 2009 XL883L with a little over 20,000 miles on it and it still rides and handles beautifully.

Starting from the front of the bike I have installed:
National Cycle Windscreen
Highway (crash) bars
Forward Controls
A Corbin Genuine Stingray Leather Hollywood Solo Seat
Luggage Rack
Viking Charger Braided Saddle Bags with Quick Disconnect Mounts
V & H Straight Shot Pipes
SE Air Cleaner
H-D Cast Wheels
A 139dB Ear Cannon Air Horn for distracted drivers (they are looking for an 18 wheeler or locomotive when I hit the Horn Button)
A modulating Head Light & Brake Light (The better to be seen, my dear)

it is a rubbermount....carb. my son had an 05. really a nice bike. that mileage is pretty low and if on original tires, they proly should get replaced. if the bike is really clean3800-4000 tops. I just bought an 08 with 13000 miles for 4000. good luck

I recently bought my '07 1200C with 2500 miles on it for $4500. It had a few extras. Including the Daymaker headlight, sissybar and rack.

I have the same bike, except blue. In terms if issues keep an eye on the clutch center plate. I and many others have had issues with the rivets coming loose and tearing up the clutch. Mine went at 18K miles.
