Wild Bill's Campground just south of Deadwood is where I've stayed in the past and where I am staying this year. I don't like to be kept up all night at places like the Buffalo Chip.
I like the sound of this myself! Will check into this.
Last time I went, I camped at Custer State Park for 10 days. It was fantastic. I arranged in advance with them so I could UPS a large tent there and some other luxuries. When I got there the park rangers delivered my stuff to my camp site in a pickup truck. When it was time to leave, I boxed the stuff back up. Rangers picked it up and shipped it home for me. Had a great time.
That does sound like a great time. I stayed in Custer last time I went out but it was a spur of the moment trip and had to stay in a hotel.... NOT cheap and I personally hate hotels when I could stay in mother nature!
I'm with ya there! Will check this place out, is it reasonably priced even during the rally?
$33.00/night to tent camp, which is a great price considering that the prices have gone up for the 75th. I booked for 4 nights and with tax came to about $140.00.

Yeah, that's not bad at all! I can definitely handle that. I'll need to start looking really soon.
If you want to camp in a cow pasture, and be close to Sturgis, check out the Bulldog campground off exit 37 seven miles east of Sturgis, right off of I-90. You will hear "Thunder Road" all night long. Their church ladies come out and serve supper. Kick the cow chips out before you set up your tent. Picture attached from 1996.
Edit: Apparently, ownership has changed. Don't know about the church ladies, but when I was there, the showers were in a machine shed. RushNoMore is another half mile up the road, over the hill, and a great campground, buffered from the noise of I-90/
stay away from SHADY VALLEY CAMP GROUND all they care about is money. and if you have to go any where you got to go west thru town, traffic jams.
nothing to do out there, can not go east of the camp ground for there is nothing to see or do, 100's of miles of nothing.
stayed there one time uhuhuhh
Wyatt's hideaway is a real nice place, 11144 highway 34, belle fourche, s.d. stayed there many times.
Alright all, here's the deal. I like to ride, I like the outdoors, therefore I do not stay in hotels (whenever possible). I am looking for a place to camp our during the 75th Sturgis Rally and google maps is letting me down.
I have camped at the rally before but I was only 18, had no money, and parked in a field road and camped in the ditch. Hell of a good time.
I'm looking anywhere in the Custer, Hill City, Deadwood, Lead, Spearfish area. (Within an hour ride to the rally)
This year, I'd like to actually be set up with a nice primitive campsite (not RV site) (no electric, no water, way back out into the woods preferably) that has access to a shower area somewhere. Basically, let's hear your stories, let's hear your advice, let's hear your suggestions! GO.
This is my first trip to Sturgis and I'll be camping at Elkview, I have my reservation already.
