Thank you akenaten! You guys think I should go a couple inches higher with mine or does it already have the right stance?
Its a matter of preference and comfort.I have my bars forward, basically straight up.you have them back towards you. would just play with the adjustments and see what feels best.I like how i havemy bars as i can even change my seating position(lean forward or back, even slouch)how ever i want without any probems.
I like to have my bars forward too, but even with them parallel to the forks, I still lean forward a little to reach them. When I am running a larger seat for traveling, then the reach is much less. When I used to have bars with more pull back in them, I had them angledforward more.
When this thread started I did'nt have apes...now I gotz 'em. I love 'em and don't see switching back as an option.
Edit: I did have mini apes before...just have "real" ones now.

illegality in most states, numb hands, and inability to keep hands on the controls in all manuevers are not misconceptions. bringing my new 09 RK home from Atlanta to alabama two saturdays ago, rider at stop light near Mt. cheaha H-D was shaking the feeling back into his hands.

I have owned and ridin every kinda bar there is except super wide beach bars and I shake the feeling back in by hands all the time. More so out of habit than actually going numb... I prefer apes over them all. Yes, they ARE misconceptions. I can control my softail with 15" apes as good if not BETTER than my eglide with stock bars. Me thinks you don't know of what you speak with 1st hand knowledge...

Been riding with apes over 30 years.. and always found it funny that the people who spend there time trash talkin on apes have never riden with apes..
Not ta stir up this hornets nest again.. But there have been a lot of threads about "Whats a Biker?" One of the things about a biker.. they never talk trash on anybodys ride no mater what it is.. I build my bikes as an extension of who I am, every biker does..Ya talk trash on my ride.. Yer talkin trash on me, who I am..
I don't like riding with drag bars, find em uncomfortable.. But I certainly wouldnt tell anyone there wrong or stupid because they do..
My wife rides a RoadKing and she loves it, I don't care for it. I find it bulky and uncomfortable.. So does that make a RoadKing Ugly or junk or unsafe Etc, etc..Of course not.. You ride a Dyna, does that make everybody onna Sporty stupid or wrong?
Blessings
