Default Shipping a Harley

Hello all. Been learning a lot so far from the community. Thanks for all the great insight. This is my first post.

Last April, I purchased my first HD from a co-worker. A 2005 Road King which I absolutely love. I have the opportunity to purchase another HD from a co-worker (1999 Dyna Wide Glide) that has been collecting dust for years and has only 5,000 miles. Problem is, the bike is in TX. So, we have to arrange transportation. I searched this forum and did not see too many threads regarding shipping of bikes. Google searches show quite a few options.

My question is - can anyone recommend a good shipper they have used in the past? The bike will be going from Dallas to Boston. Thanks all in advance.

Brewmany,

Thought of that a few times but I want a mechanic to give it a thorough going over before I take it for such a long haul.

I had used Federal Motorcycles Transport twice in the past. No problems. They call you prior to picking up your bike and prior to delivery. You can even track your bike during shipping. They offer discount to HOG members.

I just had a bike shipped from TX to FL and used uship.com and had a good experience. Most of them are private mom and pop companies and tend to be a lot cheaper than the big name shippers...at least based on the quotes I was getting. And personally I prefer giving my money to the "little guy" anyway. The company I used was a husband and wife team and were great to work with and my bike arrived safe and sound. All depends on where they are headed of course. Westam Transport.
