Default melted shoe sole

Picked up my new ultra saturday, on ride home apparently I put my boot on the exhaust pipe and now have melted neoprene on my pipe. What's the best way to remove it without ruining the chrome? Surely I'm not the first this has happened to.

I use this stuff, Turtle Wax Chrome Polish and Rust Remover. Available at most auto parts stores:

Yep, I have tried all the fancy spendy stuff and still come back to this wax/cleaner. Recently purchased a few chrome parts that were vacuum sealed in the plastic packaging for a few too many years. The plastic had bonded to the chrome. No amount of elbow grease made a difference. Slapped on some Turtle Wax Chrome, let it sit for 10 minutes, and it all wiped off instantly. $3 at Kmart.

My wife barely touched my pipe and I used a penny, by laying flat and gently rubbed the spot. Key words...barely touched and gently rubbed.

Brukus has a boot shield that actually looks pretty nice. It won't take away the melted part of your boot but would prevent it from happening again.

On a side note, decent riding boots would not melt like that. Just a helpful observation.

Easy off. Works like a champ. Spray it liberally on a rag, with the exhaust hot, lay the rag on the spot you wish to clean.

WD-40 spray on warm let sit over night and wipe away most of it next day. Next day take a wet cotton towel and wipe the hot pipe to remove last bit of residue.
