I live one town over from Redding. Actually, I live like a mile from the border. Its an awesome place to ride, for good or bad lots of twistys and blind turns. Basically, once off the bigger roads, you are in a forest with houses. You will be very close to Danbury HD if you have any dealership needs.
I recommend you take a jacket as well. We were in the TN and NC mountains last week and I was wearing two jackets in the mornings. They were both light jackets. The trip started out riding 180 miles in the rain. So good rain gear is a must as well.

Is Markus Dairy still in operation in Danbury? When I lived in NY, we used to cruise up there for Breakfast on the weekend.
remember you can always ship stuff home. I shipped home a box of dirty laundry from Sturgis and my wife was excited when she saw the address. no so much after she opened it.
Thank you so much for your comments and advice it is always reassuring to have the experience of this forum.
Low side saddle bag has rain gear and tools, trunk is hers, I have the high side bag. Will have a small bag on top of the trunk for the daily stops, we always wear jackets and chaps when underway.
Packing consists of layers, long sleeve body armor, sweat shirt and for warmer days T's under the jacket. The only quandary I have is whether to take a leather or my textile jacket, being cooler in the morning (50's) I am leaning toward the leather so later in the day I just open it up and the let the air flow through it.
She went through a packing exercise this afternoon and we have all we need with a bit of space left over for camera gear.....
