Gonnna be going to an open primary and dry clutch soon.Anyone got any suggestions on brands? Thinking of Baker but I know they're 2 to 3 times the price of some other brands. On the flip side I know Baker has good stuff and I don't want to bolt on just any old ****.
I have the 3 inch unit from Exile Cycles. It is basically a Rivera Primo Brute IV with their Pro Clutch and styling by Exile. I've only got about 900 miles on it, but so far I love it.
I'll go to their website and check it out. Thanks! I don't know why but any noise from my chain bugs me.The belt set up looks better and it seems to me to be way lower maintenance
If the chain noise bothers you, what about the noise from the dry clutch?
aren't they noisy? My friend had an open setup, and his clutch sounded like shiet.
Maybe he just had a bad one?
You wouldn't think the clutch would make any noise unless it was disengaged. The chain just seems like a haywire chickenshit deal. The Harley shop said they had automatic tensioners in stock.I guess the factory stuff works but I always figured belts were better than chains. They got rid of the chains on the final drive for a good reason I think
Clutch is quiet when disengaged. Only really hear the clutch when idling in neutral. Ratio is also a little different. That make the bike feel a little snappier from a stop. Sixth gear light also stopped working, because of ratio and other mods to the bike. I do find the belt drive to be much smoother feeling than the chain/compensator was. But it is noisy. Rattles in neutral and whines on acceleration and deceleration. I do love the rawness of the looks and sounds!
Clutch noise only when disengaged makes sense to me because the plates would be loose and rattling around against the other ones. You have to wonder if adjusting the clutch a little more positive would cut down on a bit of the noise.I won't know until I bolt mine on.I've heard a lot of good things about belt drives.Think I'm going to spend a bit more on a trusted brand.
