Default H-D Clothes

Here is something I found interesting. While on vacation last year to the UK and France I stopped in to a Harley dealer in London andParis to buy some shirts.

I noticed today that the tags on both of the shirts that they were made in the USA.

I checked the tags on some of my H-D shirts that I have purchased here in the US and all of them are made outside of the US from various places.

Just thought that was interesting.

Same is true for the T Shirts at the HD dealerships in the United Arab Emirates.

Could it be a marketing thing? "American Legend" I guess the overseas market would demand it be made in the US.

It may be that the europeans do not have to follow the same guidelines as we do in Canada and the U.S. Years ago in North America as long as the company was from here it could say "Made in the USA" or "Made in Canada" even if it was sourced out to some manufacturer overseas. Free trade changed that, because one of the agreements between the U.S. & Canada was that in order for it to be "duty free" when you brought into the country it had to be manufactured here. That's why everything is stamped with the country of origin now.

So in other words if England does not require Harley Davidson to say where it was made, then it is in their best interest to say "Made in the USA". The only other explanation is that it was very old stock, back when the stuff was actually made here.....but I doubt it. The only thing I know for sure, is that none of the clothing is made in the U.S. anymore, everything comes from China now.

All of my Harley shirts are made in the U.S.A. too (Oxford,England). If the MoCo can make a profit in England selling shirts made in the U.S.A.,then surely they could make more of a profit selling home made shirts in the U.S.A.than importing them from foreign shores. I'm confused!
We do have to follow the same guidelines as those in the U.S.A. and Canadain that if an item is made inChina, you cannot market it with a tag proclaiming it was made elsewhere.I've always found it perplexing though, that a jacket that has the label 'Harley Davidson Motorclothes An American Legend' should also have a tag 'Made in China' below it as it is in my experience both American and European leathers are of a far superior quality. I personally would rather pay extra for a quality product that gives more protection in the event of the unthinkable.

I have only bought shirts from Pa, De, NJ, NY, Md, Va, NC, Fland Ca.I've seen that some were made in the USA and some outside the USA. Florida was the most expense.

Now I've got it.......duuuuhhhhhh. When you were talking Harley, I was thinking of the stuff that MOCO is directly involved with, that stuff is all made in China now(anything that you see online is a direct MOCO product).

The t-shirts that have the dealers name printed on them, have nothing to do with Harley,MOCO sells their name to a number of companies that then print the dealer t-shirts. The sales reps that come around to see us, do not work for Harley. So yes, I suppose they could be "Made in the USA". I've never looked at my t-shirts to see what they say. A couple of these manufacturers are now using Hanes Beefy T's, so if Hanes (as an example) is U.S made then it would make sense.
