Ha ha...another "only real bikers ride to rallies" thread. I'd love to ride to Sturgis...if I wanted to waste 8 days of vacation riding on the interstate, just to get there and get home. But then, I have no interest in claiming "real biker" status, whatever that is...

" Born To Be Mild "

Got the trailer Loaded
Afraid to ride the highway
Was lookin' for some Adventure
But the wife said no way
Yeah Darlin' wanna make it happen
The blue pill will give me that love embrace
Fired my gun just that once
But can't remember the place

I'm in the smog and jam up's
Loud pipes are a rapping
Crawling in the traffic
That guy is scary my pants I be crapping
Yeah Darlin' wanna make it happen
The blue pill will give me that love embrace
Fired my gun just that once
But can't remember the place

Like a true nature's Child
We were born , born to be mild
I won't get high
Afraid I'll get a DUI

BORN TO BE MILD
BORN TO BE MILD

I don't know, there's lots of nice scenery on the way, and all around the area, if you actually enjoy riding. You get to see a wide variety of motorcycles, people, there's live music, vendors, and a little bit of drinking goes on too. Did I mention the scenery? But, to each their own.

Trailers don't nessariely mean you don't want to ride, to me it would make the trip easier and more enjoyable allowing yourself to arrive rested with all the luxury items one would not strap to their bike. I don't own a trailer but i really want a 18fter to haul a bike and golf kart. That is if golf karts are allowed at biker rally campgrounds. All of us ride 1000's of miles a yr so don't make this about not wanting to ride, I know I would sleep better havin my bike stored inside a trailer during a hailstorm.
I really like it when the trailer guys are called posers by the guys at home on the forums! Who is the real poser the guy in sturgis with the motor home and trailer or the loud mouths at home? We all ride for the same reason "we like too" how often and where that's not your or my business!

That's Comical!

I actually have a truck and a trailer, and the OL and I are riding. We have friends coming along for the ride, pulling the trailer as a support vehicle.

Why trailer it when it's an awesome ride? Different stokes for different folks, but we love the ride out and back as much as the event. We've partied and had as much fun on the way as we will there!

just to add a little fuel to this 'conversation'...
What's a 'real biker'???
Someone who rides 10k+/year?...20k+/year?... even more??
Someone who goes to events like Sturgis, or (like in Europe) the European Bike week in Faak?
Someone who onws at least 2 HD's?

IMHO: it's all about the fun & freedom I get from riding my bike. I have been riding for 40+ years and can only guess how many km's I've done over the years. I do know I've had 'good' years with low mileage due to work or other circumstances, and 'great' years with lots of km's.

Just enjoy the time you spent on your bike; life's too short to waist on get upset about whether you are a "real biker" or not

About ten years ago I was riding home from Daytona in a driving rain storm. At the exit to I-75 north a pick-up with a big box trailer cut over at the last minute to make the exit and forced me on the brakes in very bad conditions to do so.

In relating the story to my wife later that day I expressed not only my anger at the near miss, but disappointment that bikers would do another rider that way. Always the skeptic, she wanted to know why I was so sure they were bikers.

I know they were bikers because it said "Live to Ride" on their trailer. We got a good laugh out of that and I've always thought that would be a good slogan for a t-shirt.

Just sharing a funny anecdote. I don't have a dog in the fight, since I could care less how some one else gets around.

When he parked his rig and dropped the door/ramp of the trailer down he had the front of the truck sticking out into one aisle and the trailer door sticking out into another. Then he took up two parking spaces next to him to set up a canopy to park his bikes under.

The bikes looked brand new and were nothing special, but man this guy thought he was hot s#!+.
You mean I should not have done all that??
