H-Ds are mechanical, they need maintenance and they will be issues.
No vehicle that I own or have owned in the last 10 years hasn't been recalled, at least once. Even the so-called most dependable, reliable Honda and Toyota products that I own have been recalled.
Buy what you want, quit over analyzing it, and enjoy it.
You'll get as much or more bad information on here, as you will good.

Thanks for all the input.

I updated my profile. Im in TN.

The 06 is original owner, dealer maintained, less than 8K miles asking $6K.

I started with a budget of 7K for a late EVO, early 88 FX. Couldn't find anything I liked. Upped the budget to 9K, and then the cross bones caught my eye - found a couple between 11 and 12 and was gonna go look at them this week. Then got laid off last Wednesday, which brought my budget back to reality. I could do the 11, but it is out of my comfort zone financially. I like having some savings due to occasional layoffs.

I also found two 13 Slims for $11K and $12K. Low miles no add ons.

So yeah I can get a REALLY nice bike for my budget, but I really like cheaper. lol

Found this street bob, and while its not my dream HD it does get me back on one. If I wait awhile and save some more I can come across a good deal in a few months on something bigger/newer, but I think this 06 is a good price.

Good point - I forgot 06 dynas had the hydraulic tensioners.

If I did need IPB done at some point, any ballparks what it runs?

I've also found 01-05 FX's in the $5-7K range.

Like I said info overload. This stuff was so much easier pre internet when you just asked around and found something affordable. I do the same thing with guns and cars and trucks etc. lol

Thanks for the input and keep it coming. Im still reading.

My wife agrees - I should stop reading and go ride. lol

I'm going to agree with your wife on this, she is smart. I've done my fair share of researching over the years and I've come to this conclusion, the more a person reads, the more pros and cons a person is going to see about whatever they are researching about and the more confusing it can get.

No offense but this is what I tell some people that I know. If a person is afraid to do something, I usually give them two ideas to work on. Either man up and take a chance or stay home and forget about it, simple but then again, I'm kind of a stubborn old SOB.
