Default Dtc c1095

Morning my friends. My 08 Ultra with ABS started acting funny on front breaking, such as pulling to the right upon breaking. Found C1095 when I looked for codes. I know what it means, front brake switch open. But my question is this, how can the switch be read as open, if it still actuates the brake light? An open circuit, is a open circuit, regardless. Thanks in advance for your replies.

C1095 Front Brake Switch Open/Brake switch wire interrupted front:

The DTC will set if one or both of the following conditions exist for 2 seconds or longer:
  • The ABS module detects an open in the front brake input circuit.
  • The ABS module detects an open in the ground circuit to the front brake switch.

Have you recently had your switch/brake housing apart for any reason? If so, did you shim the brake lever before disassembly? If not, you may have damaged the rubber cover on the brake switch or damaged the switch itself. You should also check for pinched wires.

Is C1095 the only code you get? If you didn't mess with the switch/brake housing your ABS module might be going bad.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Is this code (C1095) a safety or operational concern? Everything seems to work just fine

You can always clear the code to see if it comes back after a few miles.

Default Same issue

I have a 08 street glide with about 8,000 miles on it, and have the same issue (C1095). I cleared the code and have rode somewhere between 4-5 hundred miles with no codes. I do get a the engine light for 8 seconds after the bike is started, indicating a historic code. Should I take it to the shop or, keep riding to see if the DTC comes back on? Thanks for any info.
