Yeah real men such as yourself never get sleepy behind the wheel. Maybe you should try something more than a "ride to eat" lunch run at the next HOG meeting before you 'contribute' again.
I tried a nap on the Pennsylvania turnpike in the afternoon after about 400 miles going from Cleveland to Richmond. They have pull offs every few miles just for that purpose. Just had to make certain that I was out of site from traffic because a few smart asses in cages blew their horns a couple of times just for fun.
The base of the tree in your signature would work for me.
I'm fortunate that I have someone in my ear for our long rides. Keeps me awake. Although Cheryl has admitted to nodding off for some long stretches.
I guess these days with all the nut jobs around, I wouldn't pull over and close my eyes anywhere. I don't even walk into the can unarmed. And I always have eyes on Cheryl (unless she's in the can lol).
I guess what I'm saying is I would drink a Red Bull or have a coffee.

10-4 on that and why I keep 5 hour energy drinks in my vest/jacket pocket. Especially when with someone else riding, not always convenient to just pull over for a snooze. If I do so I usually have a pistol IN hand. Bike or cage when I have had to I usually just get off an exit and pull over at the next on ramp.

I've never tried the 5 hour drinks. I know others that swear by them so I might give that a try.
I know if I did pull over for a nap (on a solo trip) I would be so uneasy that I wouldn't sleep a wink anyway.
The other thing I do is try to change it up a bit while riding if I'm tired. See how long I can ride no hands, sing, speed up, make more gas stops, etc.
