I finally stepped up to a bagger this year from a couple of sportys, and a few softails over the years, including a breakout as my last bike. I had some of the same reservations you are describing. All I can say is this new streetglide is the best bike I have ever owned. For a bagger, it out handles, out brakes and out corners the breakout all day. Like mentioned above, you cant throw it around like you can a sportster, but all of the other features make it a worthy sacrifice for me. Someday, I will probably build another chopper or? for short trips etc. If I could only have one bike it would be the SG.

Much as I like the wind in the face feeling, much more than an hour on my 1200C and I get pain in my lower back and shoulders. I fixed the butt hurt with a Harley Pillow Look seat (I'll take the most comfortable seat I can find, no matter what it looks like), and put a Plexifairing 3 on it this past winter, has lower extensions cast in so it doesn't get the buffeting I've experienced on some fork mounted windshields. Comes off easy, too, for shorter rides.

I'm planning on putting mids on the 1200; did that on my 883 and the different riding position takes most of the strain off my lower back - the better balance position makes the bike handle better, too. I'm not real crazy about a windshield on it, like the Sportster best as a somewhat ill mannered beast with little in the way of bells & whistles. Was kind of nice to have in a snow/rain mix, though.

Bagger crank up the radio, lean back on the backrest and enjoy the ride.

I am approximately the same size as you know issue with my bike. I have been riding for 40 years that makes a difference. I owned a sporty and a Vrod myself then move to a Street Glide, I will say I miss both that's for sure! Now I ride this Electra Glide, it's my only mode of transportation. It's great for what I need and I ride a lot. Took a 600 mile trip Saturday at 7 AM got back at 9:15 PM. I couldn't have done that on a sporty at my age LOL! If you're not interested in getting a touring bike, change the seat get some hotter cams (255's) is what I had on my sporty, put a windshield on and ride just my two cents. Glad to have you on the forum keep everyone updated

Thank you for being specific and recommending items for me! I had thought of that obviously but there are so many to choose from. I will get them both ordered. 500$ is way cheaper than 15k lol

Having just got the HD Quick Release Super Sport windshield 57838-08, I can recommend it. At 75 the wind is a non issue. I'm working on a seat upgrade right now.

Try putting a Tombstone on it. They are awesome.

Pretty good looking http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=...8o0&ajaxhist=0

It can be angled back more to have a more streamline appearance.

This...check out the Dyna's. You'll keep the handling, have more power, & the bike will be more comfortable to ride. Ain't gonna solve your storage issues but nothing will except saddle bags or a bagger. I'd look at the street bob's & lowrider's or even a wide glide. I wouldn't worry too much about the bigger bikes, they are really balanced. I'm the same height/weight as you & I've ridden a FatBoy for years coming off a Sporty & taken friends baggers out. You get used to the bigger bike quickly.
