Andy Arocho, I hope things went well for the ride. I feel bad I wasn't able to make it over for a great cause. My family has felt the effects of this demon first hand. Five years ago I watched my brother in law put into a body bag from a heroin overdose. Not a day goes by my wife doesn't think or weap for him clutching a thumb print around her neck. I only hope this discussion has shed some light on some readers of the power of this drug. It doesn't care if your white ,black, brown, yellow. Rich or poor, young or old. Once it has its talons in you it truly is a fight for life. There's a lot of reasons why so many turn to this drug and to say it can't happen in your family, your only fooling yourself.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.
Courage to change the things I can.
And the wisdom to know the difference.

Stay strong and stay the course.

That's what happened here in FL. Now we have soccer moms smoking and shooting heroin which is apparently cheap, plentiful and powerful judging by the number of overdoses. At least now, they've finally acknowledged it as the public health as well as safety issue it is.

Yep, that's how it goes down. A perc on the streets will run you $15, but a little bit of boy will cost you $8-10. . . it's easy to see how that's gonna play out.

This, compounded by the fact that a regular user is going to consume an average of FIVE 10mg Percocet-type hydrocodone pills at a time. Many users are up to 20+ pills per day after as few as three months' use.

Average street price in Texas for 10mg Lortab/Lorcet/hydrocodone is $7 per pill. So, a user is going to be spending well over $100 per day to maintain a pill habit whereas the equivalent can be had of heroin for around $40-$60 per day.
