I only regret I didn't get motor work done sooner.

Got some S&S 510's in the Softail SS and can only pray that the set up I go with on the Street Glide this winter will produce the power they do. I regret that HD doesn't make them standard in every bike they produce.

Stage 1 is how the bike should be delivered. Most upgrades beyond that are overpriced for the minimal gains, though many harley loyalists will disagree.

Yes, by not going to 124" right away because it would have cost less than 88" --> 95" --> 107" --> 124".

Off at a bit of a tangent, but would you buy a used bike with a lot of engine upgrades done to it ?

I wouldn't but then again my Harley is 11 years old and will not sell.

I don't see another Harley in my future because other manufactures* offer more value for less money at 100% stock.

*Not limited to Polaris and/or cruisers.

Granted, mine is a Sporty so maybe I don't count with you BT guys

Best decision I made with this bike.. did the stage 1 stuff with custom dyno, then jumped into taking her all the way, Hammer 1250 with headwork and cams.. she's a blast to ride. I'll probably do the same thing when I grab a Breakout, basic Stage 1 for a year, then jump to a 107 and get everything done that following winter.

That's what I used to think. Then I did the cams. Installed them myself, so it wasn't too overpriced. A good friend of mine has an '07 like me, but his is only stage 1. He says he's shocked at the difference every time we switch bikes, and I'm always surprised at what a dog his seems to be.

Not a 'harley loyalist" here. I rode Yamahas and Suzukis for over 25 years before getting a Harley. If I were bike shopping and they or Victory or Indian made a bike that I liked the looks of, I'd buy it.

I have a friend who regretted going beyond stage 1 when he sold his bike. He discovered that, despite the money spent and an impressive torque curve, his bike wasn't worth a penny more than a stock Harley.
