Default Question on mounting/dismounting a detachable tour pak mount.

I have both the two-up and solo tour pak mount. I am trying mounting/dismounting them on the bike without the tour pak to see how they fit. The unit is hard to install and remove. I have to use a rubber mallet to tap it on and off which will be difficult once the tour pak is attached. Is anyone else having this problem that may share some tips to make it easier to mount/dismount the unit?

I have no problem with mine. Maybe post some pictures so we get a better understanding of what is going on,

I had that issue. I removed the rubber covering from the mount, ground out the mount opening slightly and reinstalled the rubber.

The black mounting spools, too, are slightly oblong. Loosen, and rotate them them a little. That won't help the chrome side of course and mine fit tight. No hammer required.

That crossed my mind. Will look into that more.

I appreciated the feedback everyone.

I had that problem on my last Road King. Turns out the tabs on the detachable mounting bracket were slightly bent. I pulled the tour pak off and "adjusted" them a little with a plastic dead blow hammer. Worked right as rain after that.
