I went to jack the bike up today and the jack will only lift it 8 or 10 inches then it just stops lifting. It holds great. Anybody know what the problem is? Thanks
Dunno. My Craftsman yellow jack left my Heritage hanging in the air. Couldn't get it down without a lot of help and some other jacks. Rolled it to the curb for the garbage men to pick up and bought a J&S.
My guess is if you don't see any fluid that leaked out there's a seal leaking air in.
Looks like a bottle jack replacement is in your future.
BTW; I have the Sears yellow jack and been happy with it for years.
I think my jack has an integrated bottle jack so if it goes out it's either repair or replace the whole jack.
If mine broke since I now have a Redline Dolly I might consider going with a pair of scissor jacks.
Also before people start waving the Pom Poms for JS Jacks note that even JS Jacks only warrantys the bottle jack for two years and I bet theirs are made in China like most of the rest.
No sign of oil leaking. It worked perfect the last time I used it. Bummer. I'll check the oil level tomorrow. I guess jack oil can be bought at any auto parts store? Never bought any before.
Had and still have a yellow Craftsman jack, had since 2006. Mine did the same as yours, tried oil, bleeding, etc. minimal amount of improvement. Spent apprx. $50 for new hyd. bottle.... jack has worked well the last couple of years. I also have had the old style air operated Harbor freight table lift for scoot and ATV four wheeler since around 2006 ish. Never any problems with the table lift. Good luck.

Yep, jack oil can be bought in a variety of stores.
I got tired of replacing bottle jacks in Craftsman and bought a Titan a few years ago. Has been an awesome jack and so far no problems. That being said, I have a 2 1/2 ton Snap On that is all of a sudden stopped working. I suspect a seal/O ring so that being said, any jack can go bad. I did learn from a guy that I work with that there is a local place that does jack repair.
