Default Chrome or Gloss Black

I was thinking about changing out the transmission side cover the cam cover and the primary cover on my 2008 fxd superglide. I wondering if anyone had done thos also and used the gloss black parts and how they are holding up. Is the finish on them staying good or should i just stick with chrome. Also has anyone installed the primary cover that just wraps the primary rather than going to the expense of a chrome inner primary and all the work that goes with it.

I had most of the parts you mentioned powder coated gloss black and they look great and are holding up just fine.

My last bike had black parts and I changed them to chrome. Black and chome is like salt and pepper, ham and eggs, black and white. And so on.

The '08 super glide comes with the silver wrinkle finish, right? Would you consider the polished aluminum? My street bob came with black wrinkle. So I read that other members stripped, sanded and polished the stock wrinkle finish.
Started with this:

ended with this after hours of sanding and polishing with basic tools.

If I had to do it over I would have shelled out the cash, like I eventually did with my tranny and cam covers. I wish my motor was silver, I think your bike would look great with chrome, polished aluminum or gloss black without changing the inner primary cover.
