Isn't there a "sticky" thread specifically for this topic?

Both of my bikes have bells on them that were gifts. My wife just got her first bike, and she was given three bells by three different riders (one was me). Do I believe they keep you safe? No, but I have yet to crash a bike with one on it. My wife has also not dropped her bike like all her friends have. Time to go find some wood to knock on...

I've been riding for 42 years without one-But-my girlfriend just bought me one for my birthday, and it will be installed before my bike leaves the garage this spring! I'm not superstitious at all,but just the thought of my lover caring about me that way, well makes me feel all warm and fuzzy!!

I'm on my 7th bike, and never knew what it was until I bought my Deuce and found this forum. I'm not wired for superstition. But when a friend at work sent me one, I was all too happy to put it on. It was the thought that meant a lot to me. It's right below the voltage regulator, rear brake pedal side. Thanks, Brother!

That's what you get for loading a perfectly good motorcycle onto a trailer.

I never heard of them and the story behind them, until I saw one on a friends bike a few years ago, so my wife bought me a USMC one. Believe in it or not, I think it's a fun "tradition", rather than a superstition.
