I bought the bike that way and haveinstalled drag pipe baffles since then. Even without the baffles I could ride through my neighborhood without trying to impress everyone, with how loud the pipes were. I cruise down my street in 3rd at 2300 RPMs. The reason I do this is I have respect for my neighbors. They don't screw with me, so why should screw with them.
Tom
Same here.

My WideGlide is running open drag pipes, and can be extremely loud, if I want it to be by messing with the throttle.

Even so, you can still coast through a residential area at low RPM's (what I call Stealth Mode) without making a scene or getting folks upset.

Guess I've outgrown the need to 'show off' or tryto draw attention so everyone can see that I'm on a loud Harley.

Just because you set off car alarms doesnt make you an instant *******? Why is everyone so damn sensitive? This is America!! I can start my bike and set off alarms. Doesnt mean I was trying to; they are just too damn sensitive!! Lighten up people!
Yeah, especially if I might get enough tenants upset that my boss fires me. I'll show them. LOL

I am not talking about anubiss' situation. I am just trying to keep you guys' from throwing a "blanket" over everybody. Not everyone that sets off alarms is trying to be an *******! That's all I am saying.

Jake,

I agree that everyone that sets off an alarm is not being an ***. Setting off an alarm and then bragging about it and thinking it is funny is where the *** part starts. This is especially true when the people you are irritating are tenants of the apartments you are managing. How can you not be talking about anubiss's situation here. That is what this thread is about.

Seems to me you are the one being overly sensitive. This is America, but being American and living in America does not give one the right to impose on other Americans. A little respect and consideration for the neighbors goes a long way in America.

Bill

I don't see where Anubiss is saying he revs his motor up to do it on purpose. This is just like the other thread about getting a chuckle when a too-sensitive car alarm goes off. I putt through my neighbourhood in "stealth mode", and I've set off car alarms. DO I do it on purpose? Nope, but every time it happens, I laugh. Why? Cause it's FUNNY!

Cheers!

I set off several car alarms at this new place I live. The street I live on is wall to wall apartment buildings. I hope that whoevers cars these are get their aolarms adjusted although I have to admit I get a kick out of it. My bike is loud, but not that LOUD. I was talking to one of my new nieghbors as I was washing the bike yesterday and she asked her husband if he had seen me set off all the car alarms. Made me chuckle...
Whatever it is that you don't like you have to realize you bring it on yourself. Re-read your first post. You got a kick out of it and then had a chuckle!! Sounds to me you're bragging. Considering the position you're in, you should be trying to figure out a way to keep as low a profile as possible.
