Go Modular, I have the Shark Evoline 2 it is a full face helmet that can open and pivot all the way to the back and at this position it's a 3/4 helmet that you can still put the sun shade down for eye protection.
I also just got the Schuberth C3 pro and all I can say is wow it is quiet and comfortable the only downside to it is that it's very pricey but what price for safety.

My only comment is that if you must wear a helmet or simply want to wear a helmet, get a good one and avoid cheap junk.

"Cheap" as in low price or is in inferior quality? Because I adamantly disagree that, just because you might spend a ton of dollars on a helmet, it makes it the best helmet money can buy, or because it was inexpensive it is a POS.

Unfortunately, while I agree with your comment, it usually only applies to riders who want to wear a helmet.

I live right next door to Washington state, which has a helmet law. So, there are many, many riders who "must" wear a helmet, and who choose to wear $29 novelty helmets just so they can "show the man".

It's hard to argue with the benefits of a full face helmet in a crash or just wind reduction. However, on a hot day you might want to go modular or with a half helmet. A see a lot of people looking cool with head wraps and such. I have two friends that would be dead if they hadn't been wearing helmets. A lady I know got off her motorcycle the hard way at a stop light and counted 4 places her helmet took a hit after she stopped rolling. I have 5 helmets. Why not start a collection?

I've got to support this as well. I read a good article in MCN (It was David Hough's column) about this. The helmet can't stop you're brain from moving inside when you stop abruptly. Anything to slow you down before you hit gives your brain a chance even in a helmet. your head hits head on at 70, you're done. Helmet or not. So his theory was you don't need to spend 600 - 1000 on a good protective helmet. I have a Schuberth C3 Pro. It was pricey. I wouldn't buy it again. I could have bought a different modular that would protect just as good but may have had a bit more wind noise for almost half the price.

We all know the decent companies... HJC, Shoei, Bell, Scorpion etc. They're cheaper models provide all the protection you need. Everything else is bells and whistles.

Well now I feel stupid. I was using the hammer on my head. No wonder I was getting headaches!

Always had 1/2 face and love them. Had a cute little girl at Chandler HD in Chandler Arizona give me a lesson on helmets and fitting them. Bought a HD 1/2. Fits like a glove. Best damn helmet I have ever worn!

It just means you pay more for a DOT helmet based on perceived quality/protection- read the disclaimers of every helmet as to crash protection.
The present testing standard does not exceed a simulated impact speed of 13.66 mph.
Chrome don't get you home...neither do high dollar name brands.
