I really enjoyed my DL650, Weeeee-Strom. I sold it a few years ago, but if Harley offered something in this class based on the 750, I'd be real interested. I used the V-Strom for fly fishing back country roads. Capable of riding the 600 miles to Idaho and then 25+ miles on forest service roads and worse to some great fishing. In the West, one can ride for days only occasionally crossing a paved road. I hope they do it. As it sits, it is ugly....but they all are ugly. So what.
My VStrom had a 300 miles range. That meant days afield even when moving from one place back country to another.

I actually saw that bike in Bangkok at the bike show and walked by it twice before I figured out what it was. The were some incredible bikes there. Sadly I would last about 10 minutes on my Road King in the famous Bangkok traffic before my bike and myself would be scraped up off the road into the back of a Toyota pick up truck only to be mentioned on page 17 of the Bangkok Post as a American killed in traffic.

I often wonder if people sat around in 1907 and made declarations such as "That's not a Harley! A real Harley only has one cylinder!"
Harley (the company based in Milwaukee) DIDN'T design and build the bike! Read the article.

I did which is why I said "if". This whole thread, my post included, has been what if.

But that leads me to ask when does a Harley cease to be a Harley? When it's in an aftermarket frame? Granted this one is highly modified but it's heart is still a Harley Davidson.

Ah my bad I read that the wrong way. I suppose this bike is a Harley because it was done by a Harley dealer and has the 750 motor and
still has the frame I believe.

A custom bike that uses a home made frame, Harley motor and Trans, let's say progressive suspension, aftermarket wheels and bars... I suppose that's exactly that, a "custom" bike with a Harley motor and Trans. I'm not gonna try and define where you draw the line to name something Harley or not, but I'll have an opinion on each individual bike.

Harley could build an adventure bike using the XR1200X frame as a starting point with the Street 750 ...

It would be awesome if Harley would release something good into that market space. But it would have to be good right out of the gate to be taken seriously. I would love for them to try.

I have been thinking of the right bike to take to Alaska someday. The EGC and the RT are not going. It needs to be something that I can beat on and it just keeps going.

HD already did it years ago and it was a miserable failure. The Buell Ulysses was a dual sport model that no one wanted. I think they look badazz set up for off road.
