My denim black on my iron 883 had stickers plastered all over it. It was a raffle bike, so the sponsor had it stickered up.
It sat at shows for 1 year before the give away happened. When it was raffled off, the stickers were removed, but it left faded areas and you can tell where the stickers were at
Had someone pinstripe the SG but have since decided to take it back to stock. Has anyone had luck removing pinstriping from denim paint? I know oven cleaner works on normal paint.
Pics? What's the problem with the pinstripes? Just looking for a change?
No haven't tried to remove pinstripes from denim.
Yes denim has a flattened clear coat
Yes take care not to polish as denim is easily damaged.
I can't think of any way to remove a painted on pinstripe from denim paint without some type of final "polishing/ rubbing" to remove all traces of the pinstripe. Further I don't know of a chemical "light enough" only to remove a paint pinstripe and not effect the base coating.
See post 13?
IMO I'd leave the pinstripe or re-paint over the pin stripe in another color...even a flat black perhaps.
I've heard this 'denim is easy to damage' a couple of times now. I didn't know this for the 4 years that I owned a denim bike. never took 'special care' and I never had any issues with damage.
clean it with windex (with ammonia), and ride on. I thought it was actually pretty easy to take care of.
^^^ It stains and scratches easier than other paint. My bike still looked good after 4 1/2 years, but it did have a bunch of little fine scratches and the stain on the tank from gas. I have never had that issue with my other bikes with regular paint.
Might want to speak with who ever put your pinstripes on. He will know what type of paint he used, and suggest a solvent that will remove them without damaging the underlying paint.
I have also seen where a pinstriper will put the tank colored re-pin stripe over the unwanted pinstripe. It is still there, but not as visible. (Ghost pinstripes)

99% ( damn near ) of all pinstripers use One-Shot.
would acetone work? I am looking to do the same on my bike. its not denim, but its has a clear coat over it. My buddy used oven cleaner but said it was a bitch to do.
