Good things come to those to wait! It's getting cold, and you'll spend the winter not riding much, and wishing you'd held out for a bigger bike. As suggested, maybe a Dyna? The Dyna frame is only a couple inches longer than a sporty, but will make a big difference in looks and comfort.

Wait and get what you REALLY want - that's the best advice I can give, and it's the same advice given to me several months ago - and I am so glad I listened.

Life is too short and fall is great biking weather so go buy that Sporty and enjoy. The good thing about Harley's is they hold their value much better than the metrics. WARNING: You may be thinking of upgrading next Spring though.

I agree with the majority. I was on a budget, myself. I went to the dealer a few times and looked and sat, and so on and so forth. I would have been content with a sporty. My wife looked at me and said it looked a little small for me. I pointed out the differences in the dynas and softails and baggers. I then pointed out which one I liked the most.. The next time we went there we got my NT. I have been happy as a pig in S$%T ever since.
Long story being short- Rent or ride a few different models and see which one you basically like the most.

Bragz....do yourself a favor. Take $8000.00 and use it as a downpayment on the Dyna Super Glide and finance the balance, you get a bigger bike and the 1450 cc engine. Take the other $2000.00 and buy your wife a nice present for letting you go in debt for your dream. Where do you think the term "Rubbernecker" came from.....Bigger Harley Envy! In boating it's called "2 footitis" you'll always want something bigger. The Super Glide is a good choice, it must be I bought one and I'm the smartest guy I know!
