Makes sense.Buy a cheap trailer and haul a expensive bike on it about a 1,000 miles
We said cheap, not junk. Once you pay for the basic quality frame the other money is all for frills, My hotrods and motorcycles never cared that my trailer didn't have tile floors, florescent lights, or extra chrome. I did buy quality trailers, just not fancy ones and they tow cross country just as good if not better.

I'm with you on that one GTK...
Guys will spend $20,000 on a bike and then haul it on a trailer with rotted recapped tires, no fender, wagging like a dog, angle iron frame, half the time non workinglights, and then wonder why something went wrong. Remember, that fold up trailer at Lowes can fold up on the highway just as easy as in your garage. We haul our bikes in the horse trailer and our horses in the bike trailer, because it's the same one.
Cheers
I have an EZ-Rider that I purchased recently. Its enclosed, and is outfitted to haul either one or two bikes. It pulls nice and the suspension makes for a smooth tow.
An enclosed trailer can be used for other purposes as well, and (as someone else mentioned) can be used as a storage spot for your bike if none other is available. Cost: $3,600 out the door.
We have a Kendon trailer (www.kendonusa.com) and it's great as it stands up next to our house when not in use and can accommodate two bikes. A bit pricey but we've had it for three summers pulling our bikes behind the motorhome and no problems in 15K miles.
ORIGINAL: garcon...I need to purchase a trailer so I can get my bike to Florida from PA.
Way too many things that you didn't include. Like:
What sort of vehicle are you gonna use to haul the trailer/bike with?
Do you want an open or enclosed trailer?
Do you plan on using the trailer for anything other than hauling the bike?
Have you got a place to store the trailer in PA and FL?
How much money are you willing to spend?
Do you want a new trailer or will you consider a used trailer?
Yourpost, as written, has all the specifics of someone stating: "I need to buy a car."
I modified a used Home Depot trailer.....works for me...
What kind of mods did you do to that Home Depot trailer? Am thinking about getting one of their enclosed trailers for mine....I have a few things in mind, such as tie downs aand maybe a chock. Don't have a garage and getting the bike inside the house is a pain.
Screwed down a sheet of aluminum dimond plate for a floor....welded 4 eyelits on the corners,,,welded a bumper bar 12" high across the front deck for the front wheel to pull into...
