Default stopping the engine

When you stop the engine, do you fully disengage the clutch and then turn off the engine stop switch or do you shift to neutral and then turn off the engine?

I always leave it in gear, turn it off at the key switch I don't use the kill switch on the hand grip.

I'm sure either would work, but I always 'park' my bike in 1st gear, so I just pull in the clutch and turn off the engine.

Roll to a stop, leave it in gear with the clutch pulled in. Flip the engine run switch on the handlebars and then the ignition switch.

It's to hard to find neutral most of the time.

I do exactly the opposite, and it's for a good reason (I believe). I always have both clutch and break pulled, then I hit the engine stop switch. Only then do I remove pressure from the front break lever to turn off the ignition swithc. I've always believed it was good to have the front break covered while the engine was running, just in case.

As to gearing, I usually have it in neutral unless I'll be parking on an uneven surface for some reason. If so, then I'll leave it in gear.

I slide in sideways into my shop, doing a controlled burn on the rear tire.
When I smack the rear wall at about a 30 degree lean angle, and the rear tire propels me back to the front of the shop, I grab both brakes and let off the throttle.
It usually dies right there about 2 feet from the door.
Then I turn the switch off.

07 manual tells you to use the handlebar switch to turn off the motor. I used the ign switch once at a gas station and don't ask me how, but I clicked it from run to off, then run and it popped at me. Clutch in and neutral after motor is cut. That's personall preference though...doesn't make any difference.

When I ride my bike to work I run the front tire against the building and give the throttle one big twist. This creates alot of smoke and noise. When I walk in the office everyone hollers good morning Chuck without looking up. I get away with it because I am the Vice President. ( rank has it's privledges) HaHa HeeHee Ha Hee Ha HeeHa Ha.......CJ

I almost forgot, I turn the ignition switch off and leave it against the building in gear. I don't lock it because everyone in our small town knows I am crazy and no one today would knowingly **** off a crazy man by stealin his bike. Ha Ha Hee Hee Ha Ha Hee Hee...
