A member here posted his bike in the video section. Listen to the bike it sounds great. I have a question though and thought this section would get more veiws to answer my question.
Does setting your idle this low harm the engine? It sounds great but I wouldn't want to do it if it hurt the engine. I'm not flaming this guy or anthing, just curious.

I'm on dial-up so I don't waste time dowloading video stuff. But if he's idled it down below what HD recommends it will wear out the main bearings sooner than it oughtta. They don't get enough oil at really low rpm, and the rod ends literally pound themselves onto the crank.

Well..uhm..I saw that one, but didn't really think that was it. My EVO idles quite a bit lower than that
..and you guys are talking about that one wearing out main bearing and stuff[:-]. I will make a video of mine running tomorrow so you can hear how low the idle is...It sounds incredible when it's just loping like that though..

That's a shovelhead. They're set up to idle lower than the twin cam. As Skip said above, lowering the idle on a twin cam too much will cause some serious damage.

Hmm my Dyna Lowrider Carbed 01, dual 88 cam was set pretty darn low (via the idle adjuster with a screwdriver) so it chugged.. didnt have a problem with it.
