No. Just a poor weld. Who made it?

Apparently, recycling it into a binder for H-D pipes wasn't the answer.

there are always cracks. if these are small enough they don't grow. if they're big enough they do. if they grow they grow to rapid onset failure...

implication of event seem to be incomplete/defective weld leaving incipient crack exceeding critical size, ie too big.

crack simply went to failure...

defective part. perhaps also defective design of manufacturing techniques. plating process may also be implicated - H imbrittlement, maybe.

Looks like a shart blew through. That happened to my underwear once during a long ride.

Hope you got your receipt. Warranty is good for 1 year for HD parts. The Caveat is that if it was installed by a dealer to make that warranty valid. Be wary about some dealers pulling this BS on you. If this part broke during the warranty period, then you should be able to get a new one.

But is the time, effort, and money necessary to get this replaced? Is the headache of going to multiple dealers getting multiple answers knowing that you have a valid warranty issue worth your time?

What I was thinking too... Spealership will not want to give you a replacement.

Probably a poor weld. How old was that exhaust?
If it's out of warranty , maybe throw some fishtails, or other cool tips, on there. And just forget about it. Stuff like that used to **** me off, but life is too short.
