What is the purpose for wanting to wear the vest? Then options can be explored.
I have one, only worn a couple of times, so I can carry my Glock. Other than that it's useless.

Plus it has a waterproof liner that comes out. I've used it the past several days in 80 and low 90 degree weather. The 90 degree weather is hot, and a leather vest while looking cool offers no practical benefit to be had. I would roast in mine even with a t-shirt on, or no t-shirt. I'm very happy with the jacket so far, it's far better than anything Harley has to offer on the mesh front, and it comes with the armor right out of the gate so you don't have to buy the armor inserts that Harley sells separately, that aren't quite as good. I'd check it out. Here is the link...

I have two Joe Rocket mesh jackets, both are over 10 years old, and I wear the snot out of them. I rode in the heat wave last June through south Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi with 100+ heat indexes, and I was cooler with the jacket on than I was with it off (as long as I was moving above 40 mph).

Well I mainly just wanted something that was cooler than my leather jacket. Usually my arms get really hot so I figured a vest wouldn't be a bad idea but now I'm leaning more on the side of a mesh jacket. From what people have posted so far it seems a vest is still pretty hot and the mesh jacket I used to have was really good at keeping me cool. Just wanted to explore my options and hear from others about their experiences.

You got it fishtail, doesn't make mesh any real cooler unless you are moving pretty good. I have been the mesh route and didn't really work for me. Had my wife's relative from Calif out for a visit. I tried to tell him too much humidity for that mesh jacket and full face helmet today. Of course he assured me all was well. I kept a eye on him in my review mirror and when I saw his head start bobbing I pulled us into a stop to cool off. He took that gear off and enjoyed the rest of the day!

That's what I found so far, the jacket is only hot when you aren't moving enough to get decent airflow. But by the same token, I've also felt the same with a leather vest and t-shirt. For my money, I'd rather use the mesh jacket and have the armor in there if god forbid anything happens. Getting that kind of work out down there in the Deep South is perfect to test the jacket...if it works there, it'll work anywhere.

I rode 70 mikes today. It was hot and sticky. I wore my mesh jacket over a tee shirt. Was in stop and go traffic a couple of times. I felt very comfortable Dressed this way.

The vest is all about statement, not comfort. I miss my old worn out levi vest. Today I sport a fox creek vest, five years old and still looks new...helluva product.

I have a vest but I don't wear it much and even less in the summer. 100° isn't vest wearing weather.

I bought a vest two weeks ago, after asking about their usefulness here.

I kinda like it for a certain temp range. From the low sixties (when paired with a hoody or a normal sweatshirt) up to the low 80s (just over a tee shirt) it works pretty well. Plus it does keep the tee shirt from slapping around.
