Default Helmet speaker installation

I have a scala rider packtalk on the way, but have a question about installing the speakers. I wear a HJC RPHA ST full face helmet. This helmet does not have speaker cutouts in the eps liner. Question for those of you who have installed these in the past; do you install the speakers behind the comfort liner in the ear pockets, or do you install them on the liner such that the speakers will be between my ears and the liner?

Theres probably a correct answer to this, but put them where you can hear them. Often times you might have to get some velcro to attach them between the shell and the inner ear hole cut outs.

When I first tried to put speakers in my modular helmet, the recesses were too high and too far back. The Sena speakers are maybe 5/16" thick, and even in the recesses, they pressed against my skull and pinched the tops of my ears. It would hurt after a while. Plus it was hard to hear.

My Arai helmet has the recesses perfectly placed. Because they are right over my ears, the sound is much better and they don't press against my head.

Under the liner is where I put 'em too.

If your helmet doesn't have recesses, I hope it's got enough padding that the earphones can sit inside. Lots of differences in the helmets I have. You'll just have to experiment with placement.

I put ours in the ear pockets, ON TOP on the liner.

Default speakers

A hot soldering gun will melt the foam anywhere you need it and as deep as you need and allow the speakers to not create a pressure on your ears.

My Shoei came with spaces for speakers. Can't you mount them to the hard shell and cut the liner around them?
