Hollister
I got into town Friday morning, parked there in the center of the main street. You could tell that it was a hastily put together program. I'd say 9 out of 10 vendor booths were t-shirt places (all the same stuff), Leather and food. Only a very few equipment dealers. Considering that the event almost didn't happen at all, not bad.
The non stop live music was awesome, even tho to sit in the shade and listen, you had to buy a drink ticket (beer gardens). I walked around, bought some trinkets for the grand kids, and by 4pm, I was pretty much done.
The police presence was big. But they were friendly. At least for me. A smile and a kind comment was returned in kind. I saw 'em photographing a group with club colors. All in all, Friday was laid back and relaxed from my viewpoint.
However...
I went alone. And without being in a "social wolfpack" it really becomes a one day event, or a day trip. I went, I saw, I got tired of it, and rather than spend a second day (I already had a room booked) I left Saturday morning. But the day was not wasted. Rather than head back south east to the central San Joaquin Valley, I headed directly west for the coast to Monterey and took the PCH down past Cambria, then Hwy 46 east back to home.
