It's no secret that I despise the "football" air cleaner on the Twin Cam. It's the second ugliest air cleaner the MoCo ever came up with, right after the "bread box" air cleaner from '78 to '84.
I think your alternative is cool. I love "repurposed" and "found" custom parts.
Not bad, but I think it's a little plain and reflects too much light for that area of your bike. I like the paint job on the bike, and I think something that has less chrome will make your paint job stand out more. Although the 6" clean-cut cover is simple and has a clean look, it makes that area of the bike too bright due to the chrome and will tend to focus people's attention to it and detract from the rest of the bike. JMO.
Thanks for all the great responses. I am a Plumbing Contractor. If you wanted one you have to go to a Plumbing Parts house. These cover Plates actually cover a clean out in a vent stack in a wall so you don't see a hole in the wall looking at a screw plug. They also can be primed and painted, custom painted, put a medallion on it ect. I paid $6.00 I seen them up to $10.00. I just can't see paying up to $100. dollars or more for a cover plate that may have slots or holes of fancy designs. If I had the money yes I would own a fancy one.

I did think about custom painting it to match the paint job somewhat. Good idea. I will do some experimenting since I have several of them. How about one with black paint and chrome skull medallion.
Yes I do. It is oval and my right knee hits it when I use the rear break. This gives me more leg room but does it take away from the look of the bike?
That would be a question that only the owner should not give 2 ***** about. If you like why worry about other opinions?
My opinion is I don't like a lot of chrome. Some guys bust a nut and cream their jeans getting new chrome, I'd rather powder coat something a contrasting color or something. But that is me, flame suit on.
