Re post 31 directly above:

I loved my vrod in a straight line. I never really felt confident in the turn especially at High speed but I loved that thing going forward

Picked up a 2007 VRSCD two weeks ago. Was putting a lot of miles on the limited and it is a good ride for short trips less than 300 miles.

Being perhaps Harley's most reliable motor, I can't understand why they don't revamp the bike's geometry into a more "neutral" riding and handling machine.

I've seen "Road Rod" conversions using floorboards, a Road Glide fairing, and hard saddlebags that look very snazzy. Why don't the designers try something like that, if only for a limited production run?

How about a VR motor in an FXR-like frame with the FXRT-style fairing, a comfortable seat (as the original FXR seats were, right out-of-the-factory), floorboards and some hard bags?

Can't get used to the space between the rear tire surface and the rear fender. Almost "dirtbikeish."

It probably has more suspension travel because of that.

A friend of mine (who also has a false leg) has one, and does long tours on it. Stock bars and pegs. I've never heard him complain of discomfort or think about buying anything different. So they can't be that uncomfortable.
