Default Buying a Harley

I've always been a Harley lover but was living on a Honda Shadow budget. I am now pulling some money together to get a bike I can tour with and love riding. The Missus and I did not enjoy long rides on the Shadow.

I am considering a 1994 Ultra Classic, 13,000kms on the new engine. I'm not above some wrench work but am not a mechanic either. Some folks say to get something newer as they have fewer issues than older bikes. This one has a lot of adds to it and is running around $10,000. I'm seeing newer bikes with lots of mileage on them for just a bit more. I know this guy too and he's a stand up guy and is only selling as he has stopped riding. Bike has sat for 2 years but has been well maintained and is show room quality.

Thoughts?

You might try posting that in the EVO section.

I'm seeing other 1994s for around $6500-8500. This one is chromed right out too.

That's a sharp bike you posted man!

Accessories, especially non-functional ones like chrome, are worth next to nothing in a sale. How many km. on the rest of the bike?

That price sounds high, even for Canada.

13,000 on a "new" engine?

I think you should look for something newer.
A lot fewer issues than a bike that's 22 years old.

Judging by your location I am assuming you are speaking of $10K Canadian which is around $7600 US. For that price here or definitely within the $9K US range there is a lot of choices on newer bikes with low mile. I think that price you have listed is high

For instance I just pulled up craigs list for London ON

04 Road King $11K CAN with 9400KM

09 Heritage 18,000 mile $10,500

08 RoadKing Classic 6630 miles $11,500

Default Buying a Harley

If you have a line on a '94, with a new EVO? Don't let it get away. That is the most reliable motor you can own. Time proven! Saved HDs bacon too bout that time. You will not be disappointed. And if you & your wife have ridden highway miles on a Shadow? You'll live that EVO. They are simple motors. Manuels are everywhere. Parts are everywhere. '94, kick & electric start, right ? 4 speed ? If you don't get that bike, please send me a msg w/contact.info. Please
