The only SE pipes that are "too quiet" are the ones for the touring bikes IMHO, everything else has a nice sound (maybe too quiet for some, but still a good sound)

The SE's that are sold now are just slightly louder than the stock pipes.

I must respecfully disagree. Mine are significantly louder than my stock pipes. Of course it is subjective, but I run with some stock bikes, and mine easyly drowns them all out. Maybe I got lucky or something.

I can also confirm that the new Screaming Eagle 07 slipon are significally louder than stock pipe.

I dont know how to describe this but here an idea

Original stock on 2006 bike
---- db

Original stock on 2007 bike
------ db

The new Screaming Eagler 2007 street legal slipon installed on a 2007 bike
----------------- db

The new Screaming Eagle 2007 street legal slipon installed on a 2006 bike
--------------------- db
(yes its slightly louder on 2006 bikes as the old 2006 engine generates more db than 2007 engine).
So by installing a Screaming Eagler street legal slipon on an old 2006 bike you are exceeding the 80 db limit which technically makes your bike illegal.

*discontinued* Screaming Eagle 2 installed on 2006 bike
----------------------------------------------- db

Straight pipe
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- db

I have the new balloney cut Screaming Eagler Street Legal slipon installed on my 2006 Bob.
And it definataly sound much louder than stock. See my diagram above.

The SE slip ons are a complete waste of money. I had mine on for 300 miles and thought they sounded terrible. Sold them on ebay the next week for $200. Get some pipes instead. You need no fuel management anyway. Pay3 hundred more and go full pipes. My big radius were 750 installed. Those worthless slipons were $450 installed. Waaaaaaaay better sound.

The 07 se slip ons are a total waste of money and performance. I could not wait to get rid of them.

I beleive the 07 Screaming Street legal slipon are meant for those who wish to avoid police ticket, in the first place. they are for lowprofile bikers.

If you live in a police zone surrounded by cops whos job is to give tickets to everything that has less than 2 wheels.

the 07 screaming is the noisest street legal pipe on the market.

I had SE slip ons on my RKC. They sounded pretty good, but I didn't like the tone. They were a little tinny. On a Road King it doesn't seem as loud when you ride it because the sound is behind you. If you are putting them on something else the sound is different. My wife's FatBoy has SE slipons and we removed the baffles. Her bike is loud and sounds good! I went to Samson slipons on the RKC and they definitely have a deeper tone. I like the sound much better.

I would not remove the baffles on SE slip ons. They are too short for that on my 1200. I know at least one FB owner that is having his engine rebuilt because he did that. Valves burned up or something.

At least verify that the back pressure is sufficient with the baffles out. I know also that performance suffers when you do.

I paid $124 shipped to my door for some cycleshack slip-ons. It took me all of 30 minutes to install them on my 1200R. I was running open, no baffles, these quieted things just a little, but created a ton of torque in every gear. Great value and great sound.

Been running it for two years like that . Has a SE cam in it and different jets in the carb. It runs great. No stutter.

I like mine. they are loud enough for me and the power increase was excellent. I have an article from a magazine that tested 6 different pipes on the dyno and SE's were at the top of the list for engine performance. Sound performance is cool, but I wanna go fast....
