It looks like just one, correct?
If it only has one tensioner at least its a lot easier than two (looks simple enough)... once you get to it you don't have to pull the cam plate or the cams (or make/buy a tool to remove it).
Gears require much higher tolerances, that drives the cost up.
Less profit, or higher prices for the bikes.
Fine line between tolerances and cost, customer wants a less expensive product that is made better and last longer.
Company stock holders want more profit from there investment.
Some one has to bend over and take one for the team
You can guess who its going to be, at least it looks like an easy job.
I don't mind a job the designer made easy, have to wait and see.

I've been looking for the same answer, nothing yet. Just amazes me they could keep tolerances tights, until around 2003

Why a recall when they can sell the band aid fix as an upgrade.

Haven't seen a teardown of one yet. Since Harley's being secretive, I don't hold out much hope

That setup is fine, they've been using them on cars for years. The tensioner will be easy to replace when the time comes.

I haven't tore down anything much newer than 90s cars. I haven't seen one. Guess lower quality is wide spread
