Default Help my first attempt wrenching

original post

I'm in the process of swapping to a s&s super e.
Had a mikuni on it so i need different cables. (the ear / tab that holds the float was physically broken)

Want to make sure i order the right ones.

This is what i think i need.

Pictures of what i'm working with....

Thanks for the help.
It's ok to talk to me like i have no idea what i'm doing since i dont

edit 1

put the new cables on ....... that went well

Put it all together ...... seemed good
Changed the oil because it smelled like it had fuel in it from previous carb
Put in lucas synthetic all anyone had local

Can hear what sounds like a vacum leak to me ...... enrichment lever doesn't stay up on it's own all the sudden now that everything is tightened up

Won't stay idling on it's own, sounds a little lean to me , oil appears to be leaking from head gaskets

I quit for the night.

The grip end will all be the same. These say they are for s&s,so they should work. The difference from your present cables,if any, will be the 'free' length of the cable itself[the length that is left hanging 'free' out of the end of the housing] Make sure you order the housing length about the same as your old cables.
Don't lose the tiny brass ferrels for the handgrip end!!

I've done that swap.. The S&S accepts the stock throttle cable. Just dial in your ride into the selector, and it should be good to go!

He doesn't have stock cables-probably. He's taking off a Mikuni,so who knows. He could try the existing cables before ordering replacements though, but from his pic it looks like the s&s is already on the bike,so maybe he has checked the cables.

Correct "i think" from all the research i've done if i had stock style cables i'd be good.

The mikuni type cables i have are threaded and have nuts on the ends...
Pictures of what i have

Yes the s&s is on the bike now.

Ends that went to the mikuni that wont work.

ends that go into throttle

brass ferules that came off throttle ends

Just use the cables you have, they will work just fine.
The threaded cable ends tell me you have a '95 or older bike and that's all they mean.

As for length I went from a CV carb to an S&S with no problems.
I just had to reroute the cables on the bars as S&S says you need cables that are a bit longer.
You don't need longer cables the stock ones (or what ever you have) will work fine until you change handle bars.

What part of Texas are you in?

When you bought the S&S there should be 2 cable mounts that came with it.
If I remember correctly you need to use the shorter one.
