The loaner bike I have now is a complete turd. I've checked the mpg by hand and it gets 22mpg. It's a turd, runs hot,no power whatsoever. I could tell this before I even checked the mpg,you should be able to ride your bike and tell if it's no quite right.
First to help you answer your Question--... is your bike stock,, or what mods have been done to it... IE-- pipes, A/C, Cams, and most important -- what tuner and how was/is it tuned.....??
I've read in here many times that people who have the older Fuel Pac installed lose MPG and end up getting in the 20 something mileage....
Or maybe your neighborhood Kid is getting his gas from your bike to support his mowing business.....
WOW I didn't realize how sensitive we are.
I was getting 30 mpg per gallon! Now I'm getting 20 - 21 mpg. I check my tire pressure several times per week and I've changed the spark plugs. I use the same premium gas as before. Do you all haae any suggestion?
Could you be running it harder, higher RPM? Mine has up to 10 MPG difference between just cruising to and from work, and wanting to go on a high speed run. Did you change gas stations? Maybe their octane isn't equal.
I'll check the plugsIt's an EFI
Sometimes I smell gas while riding
I didn't do anything to it before the problem started
Sometimes I ride it hard but not consistently enough to cause this problem

With an EFI system you shouldn't be smelling gas.
My guess is that you have a small leak somewhere.
